Born on 5th November,1996 Anannya Mahanta from Guwahati, Assam originally hails from “Sri Sri Moira Mora Sattra” of Sibasagar District. Anannya was brought up in a traditional Sattriya culture since her childhood. She had completed her Post-Graduation in Physics(Astrophysics Specialization)from JIST,Jorhat,Assam. Anannya started her formal Dance lessons in “Sattriya Dance” at a tender age of three years under the guidance of Guru Govinda Saikia. Later, she continued her training under the guidance of Sattriya exponent Guru Adhyapak Dr. Bhabananda Borbayan and Smt. Sharodi Saikia(Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee) at Rangayan ( An Academy of Dance Theater and Music ) since the year 2001. Anannya even completed her 5 years Visharad degree in Sattriya dance and received her double diploma in this field under Sangeet Sattra. At just an age of 26, she has performed in many national and international platforms so far both in groups and as a soloist and have earned applauses. Presently, she is undergoing her advance training in this field under Guru Naren Ch. Baruah who is a recipient of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Purashkar under Sangeet Natak Akademi,New Delhi. Besides carrying forward her passion in dance Anannya has even acted in plays and short films too. Anannya is also an active member and a Sattriya Dance Artist under 'freebirds' community that works as a community platform for experiential learning through workshops and events. At present, Anannya is engaged in her brainchild “Nrityangahara” (a govt. registered cultural society) as the ‘President’ and one of its founding members that works for the promotion and propagation of Sattriya Art and Culture including various other performing arts.
