Describe Your Self
Working as In-charge of the Planning Branch in the Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Punjab, I was responsible for making project proposals and make appropriate presentations for bagging these projects and followed by monitoring the implementation of the same which were assigned to me. In this sphere, my contributions are as follows: • Sustainable Development Goals were adopted by United Nation General Assembly & all its member countries and it includes 17 goals to meet the challenges faced by the world “leaving no one behind”. I worked as Nodal Officer on behalf of three departments - Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Dairy Development and the 4-Year Strategic Action Plan was made to attain nutritional security, economic prosperity of our stakeholder farmers by promoting livestock health, enhancing animal production as well as livelihood security, food for all and nutritional security with good health. On the basis of vision, mission & objectives - the departments serve to up-lift socio economics status of the stakeholders. It is worthwhile to mention that the 4year-Stretegic Action Plan document prepared was amongst the first ones approved by the Govt. of Punjab and the presentation was appreciated by all present including Hon’ble Finance Minister, Punjab. After approval of 4-SAP, the departmental budget for the year 2020-21 was coordinated with the Punjab Govt. Planning Department. It is pertinent to mention that departmental budget was enhanced from 25.55 crore to 75.34 crores. • For equitable growth of society particularly targeting livestock farmers and landless rural families, projects were formulated under RKVY scheme (Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yogna). New projects included –  Up-gradation of Semen Bank Ropar From B-Grade to A-Grade (Rs 8.60cr),  Setting up of 3 zonal Disease Diagnostic Laboratories (Rs 3cr),  Up-gradation of RDDL, Jalandhar (Rs 2cr),  Providing high genetic merit bulls to Nomads in Punjab (Rs 50,00,000/-),  Animal Health sub-scheme (Rs2.42cr) and ongoing projects (Rs 28.71cr). The total approved project amount through State Level Sanctioning Committee headed by Chief Secretary Punjab were Rs. 41.36 crores which are under process of release of funds. • For providing preventive health care services to the livestock against contagious disease like - Foot & Mouth Disease; budgetary provision of Rs 21.73 cr was got released by co-ordinating with GOI. 75 lakh livestock population including Cows, Buffaloes, Sheep Goat were covered under disease control programs. This is important for ensuring FMD control status for the state, which is so vital for export of the state livestock products including milk, meat and milk products. • 3-Special Central Assistance (SCA) schemes were implemented across the state to up-lift the socio-economic status of SC-BPL families focused to end hunger and poverty. The scheme was to provide 1-female buffalo calf of good germplasm by financial assistance amounting to Rs 10,000/- per family, 3-goat kids by financial assistance of Rs 10,000/- per family 1-hand toka machine @ Rs 8,000/- per family. The work progress during my tenure of 18-19 and earlier 2017-18 is given as under: S. No Scheme Name 2017-18 Earlier 2018-19 (My Tenure) Budget Expenditure Units Budget Expenditure Units 1 Female Buffalo Rearing unit 51 lakh 4.5 Lakh 45 51 lakh 48.40 lakh 484 2 Goat kid rearing unit 50 lakh 4.5 lakh 45 50 lakh 48.40 lakh 484 3 Hand driven Chaff Cutter 40 lakh 0 0 40 lakh 37.44 lakh 468 Total 141 lakh 9 lakh 90 141 lakh 134.24 lakh 1436 Hence 1436 SC-BPL families were benefitted under the scheme. • For the implementation of scheme at the ground level; dissemination of knowledge is an important aspect. “Compendium of Schemes” was prepared by co-coordinating with the Planning Department to facilitate benefits of schemes. The document comes handy for the potential beneficiaries.
