Work Profile
I introduce. myself Deaf woman! lets you know that is why I m live in Bangalore because of currently working as SignAble communications - The SignAble App provides a video relay service solution that enables deaf and hard of hearing people to communicate with anyone, anytime, anywhere via an online interpreter. CEO of Tarun Sarwal Founder SignAble Communications and Vedio relay interpreters my SignAble Family. It was amazing for me to work with the UN as the first deaf woman selected from India and I worked for almost two years including my work as well as my traveling and as I came back to India I saw something different, The experiences of deaf people and the barrier that they face was same in Europe as well as in India but what I noticed was that it is accessibility Europe had for deaf people than India, In India, we have very little access. I can tell you my own experiences when I was young I didn't know how to communicate which means I knew not what sign language was and I had no experiences of communication, I had no good education, no good knowledge and when I moved to Delhi then is where I learned sign language and then when I moved to UN that's where I learned six kinds of sign language. Because I am from India, I want India to grow and be proud, I think the communication barrier for deaf people comes because of lack of education, and because lack of education, they are hot able to understand words and have no good knowledge, that leads them not able to have a good job nor able to scope in anything, they are only able to get simple jobs a middle-class state and not more than that and this is because most of the teachers who give education to the deaf people do not know sign language. I feel it is important for teachers to know sign language so that they can help those young children's to progress well because when I was young my teacher didn't know sign language it was very hard for me to listen, I had to search by my own the words and the meaning for those words and I had to struggle much when I was young and when I went to Delhi I learned sign language for the first time it was very hard and different and I know when we are fighting life we may sometimes get tired or just give up but I encourage not to give up. As we all know spiders tried to climb but only after 8 times, it could climb. we should never give up on our efforts we have to try try try we should never think that this work is impossible Or that work is impossible. We are not handicap, we can do it. we make mistakes but we can learn from them, it may be hard and mistakes will mold you and hard things will teach you life lessons. Our hands is not the means of disability but is a means for communication, if we are shy if we are not bold or courageous or if we just feel that it is impossible for us to do we cannot grow nor progress but I think if we feel confident and think yes I can do it and that is where progression begins and I feel deaf people must have a good education and that the teachers who teach them must learn sign language because that is the mean of for us to understand and communicate with each other and I also encourage hearing people to learn sign language is because in India we have 18 million deaf people and very less amount of interpreters , They would feel happy to see someone out of their community come unto them and talking to them or helping them with this communication barrier and in this covid I have seen that deaf people have gone very very far from the awareness, handicapped people could hear they could understand what is happening around but we deaf people cannot hear nor we cannot understand what people speak and because of lack of education we don't know what is happening around us and then how will we have an awareness how will we learn. That people do not have a computer, phone, Or a good technology, moving forward I request that government should have or provide some support to deaf people with the use of Technology, please provide them laptops or any other Technology means that you think will fit in so that they can get a good education which indeed will help them to have good knowledge which will help them to be confident in the society and make the future much Better ahead. We can make those changes from today, the future can be changed by our choice. https://youtu.be/dqnaTS97n8I?t=8 I meet with Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General UN Agencies in Ukraine 2017. can you see this link of what I m doing in Ukraine experience? and I taught them UN agencies in Ukraine for SDGs class for the international sign.
