Anne is a funeral staffer of the Indian Christian cemetery (Hosur road). She’s a volunteer of the Mercy Angel Team. She’s currently very active in doing and providing burial and cremation services for both Covid and Non-Covid deceased people. She ensures these people’s final journeys are carried out with respect and dignity.
One such case was that of my husband, Mr. Sunder Parwani who recently passed away due to Covid.
One call to her and she was there is 10 mins to organize the discharge of Su from hospital. She ensured that he got to wear some of his favorite clothes for his last journey. She got us all the required PP kits, bottles of water since she said the cremation grounds will be very humid. For some physical strength, she organised for ORS packs for all of us. She gave us double masks to wear, came and individually put it on for us, instructing us how to wear them correctly. She made a few farewell charts with messages for Su (as he’s so fondly known).
She also organises final rites for the destitute and unclaimed orphaned bodies of people.
Anne is actively involved in feeding and supporting the rehabilitation on street and abandoned dogs.
As a token of appreciation for all that she does, my family and I would like to nominate her for this award. This is a very small gesture to thank her and recognize her for the great job she’s doing in ensuring, those that pass on are laid to rest with honour!
A true super woman…My family and I would like to thank her from the bottom of our hearts.
