SEPTEMBER 2017 TILL PRESENT – Special educator at Sankalp- the Open
School, a school for children with special needs
Developed and implemented IEP for each special education student. Identified and
implemented goals tailored to the student’s individual needs and abilities.
Collaborated and Co- ordinated with parents, teachers and teacher assistants to
create a holistic platform for children with special needs. Established rapport with
various service providers that include speech, occupational for students who are
highly functional and fall under autism spectrum, developmental delays, and children
with learning disability in resource classrooms.
Duties:
 Assisting the parents of children with special needs and train them on Elearning.
 Instrumental in creating an innovative e-learning platform through various art
forms, games and team activities to make virtual learning more captivating.
 Interacting periodically with parents and keep them updated on the virtual
classes , teaching methodologies which can help them teach their wards at
home.
 Designing an innovative lesson plan for e-learning
 Instrumental in organizing yoga workshops on “ international yoga day”
 Organising activities that require a pupil to hear, see, say, and do something.
 Building regular breaks into classes so that students do not become
bored/fatigued.
 Helping children who are shy to sit in a class integrate with their fellow pupils.
 Preparing students for life outside & after school by talking to them in an adult
way.
 Rewarding pupils for trying to learn, for every efforts they make.
 Encouraging students to actively participate in all classroom activities.
 Assisting children who have trouble reading by using various innovative
teaching aids.
 Perform assessments on verbal and non-verbal communication abilities then
recommend effective intervention techniques to address a situation with the
intent of helping the student achieve his/her fullest potential.
 Cleaning up a classroom and rearranging desks at the end of a every lesson.
 Gathering information about a child from a number of different perspectives.
 Organising course material into small study sessions where pupils can master
subjects without becoming overwhelmed..
 Developed and implemented lesson plans tailored to children’s abilities.
 Made special classroom accommodations for children as necessary.

 Digi-Akshara July 1st to 27th 2020 - Virtual Gurukulum : one-month training
programme for creating and facilitating E-learning Spaces for people working
with children with learning and special needs.
 Art practices for inclusion – February 7, 2020 to February 9 2020: 3
days’ workshop organized by Snehadhara Foundation to bring the art as

 Lead the project “TEJOMAYA”, a virtual celebration of dyslexia awareness
month, in association with rotary district literacy team 2020-21 and
SANKALP- THE OPEN SCHOOL, A SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN WITH
SPECIAL NEEDS AND LEARNING DIFFICULTIES. Over 200 participants
attended on zoom and more than 500 views on Facebook. Event held on
October 31, 2020.

Sankalp – the open school by collaborating with Meenakshi educational trust.
Sponsored school bags, steel water bottles for children and bed sheets for
older inmates of TANSOWA. Students from Sankalp performed cultural
events for the inmates.
 Exchanged flags with RC Plainsboro – Northbrunswick , New jersey – May

 Conducted several positive parenting workshops in various mainstream
schools across Chennai to create awareness and spread the importance of
healthy parenting
 Involved in various community service projects like road safety, help in
building quality restrooms for people in remote villages across Tamilnadu.
