I am Neha Tendulkar. Born and brought up in Military background. From childhood I have seen tough life as dad was always bounded by his services for nation. When my father was fighting the kargil war we spent our days 1year approximately without him, my mother brought us up with strength. The kargil war ended and again we faced the 2001,earthquake in Bhuj Gujarat. Survived it.. Extreme winters we used to sleep on the earth groaning again and again and we all were horrified by the aftershocks. I was in my school on 26th Jan when it struck I have seen my friends and knowns losing their dear ones. The terror.. The grief I still can feel. I grew up to become a teacher and took up B. Ed course. The college was 70kms away from my home. The daily up down hampered my studies. I decided to stay in hostel there. I used to come home during weekends. One fine day when I boarded the bus, I realized that the bus was overcrowded as usual but one seat was empty. I decided to sit there. When I adjusted myself I noticed that on the window seat beside me was a girl in a shabby appearance. She looked into my eyes.. I gave her a smile. Then happened something unusual. The girl told me to leave my seat as she wants to change her clothes. Yes.. She said that she wanted to change her clothes in the bus. I observed her closely and noticed that her clothes were stained n torn. I asked her the reason. She was carrying a plastic bag in which she had a pair of dirty clothes.. Some Bananas and a 10 rupee note. I looked her carefully. The clothes were stained with blood. One of the passenger said that she is mentally ill. Yes,she was but the question was who she was and where was she going and what actually happened with her. Knowing that she was trapped by a guy by promising her to marry she was brutally raped n thrown in bushes from where she managed to run. I immediately decided that I will take her to police station as she is quite mentally ill n anyone can again take advantage of her. Reaching the police station in bhuj. I narrated the whole thing to lady police. They also confirmed that she was raped. When I offered her tea n biscuits she refused as she told that she can't eat as she is been hit by a rod on her ear muscle that resulted in swelling of her throat. When her relatives were called, they said that champa(the victim) was not mentally stable and had the habit of running away from home and come back. But this time when she did some scoundrel took her advantage. To change her identity the man cut cha pa's hair that were too long so tht no one comes to easily notice her. The lady police and Champa's relatives thanked me and took charge of further enquires. Champa wanted to spend her lifetime with me. She told that she wanted to stay in my house but unfortunately she couldn't. I still miss her.
