Suresh Palamel, resident of B-56/57, Payalpark Society, Behind Air Force Station, Makarpura, Vadodara - 390 010, Gujarat, India, am basically a social activist and journalist working in this part of the world since last 30 years. As there is a severe threat faced by the people all over the world due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, I thought it as my duty to assist the people of my area in Vadodara city by creating awareness amongst the citizens as to how preventive measures can be taken by individual initiatives and also by exhorting them to boost their immunity power. I organized the people of our area and approached Vadodara Municipal Corporation for sanitation work in a big cluster of about 50 housing societies with the help of Fire & Emergency Services and Urban Health Centre. The response received from the local body was heart warming. I took extra care for the timely sweeping and garbage collection from the sweepers employed by the sanitation department of Vadodara Municipal Corporation from all the housing colonies, shopping centres and slum areas. In addition, I also urged the people to wear masks, glouses and use sanitizers so as to prevent the infection of Corona virus. As the Government of India and the State Government declared lock down since 23rd March '20, the poor people and daily wage earners and migrant workers from other states became jobless and they cried and shouted for the daily meals for their mere survival. At this point of time many well to do sections,
