I am a Government teacher at the school of excellence Satna (M.P).I am dealing with Biology Subject, I always teach my students about the teenage problems and discuss with them how to maintain hygiene during menstruation cycle, during Covid-19 Pendemic, I realised the importance of Sanitary Napkins, hence started distributing Sanitary Napkins during the Lockdown which was a difficult task, the movement which I started in Satna finally spread to 52 districts and 23 States of India.I requested government also to consider it as an essential necessity and distribute it with the government ration.Later on with the help of other NGO I started distributing it with the ration. I provided it to the migrant labour's who were travelling long distances, I provided it to the poor women who were facing economical problems and to my students who belong to economically poor backgrounds. It was a difficult task to manage sanitary napkins during lockdown when the market was close and it was out of stock. I use to take permission from the government authorities to travel in the villages, during the rainy season the risk of getting a disease because of infection was also high. I was the first in India to start it in the month of March when no one thought about it. My family, relatives, society everyone was against me but my inner voice was saying that I am not doing anything wrong.
I was continuously helping migrant labours providing them food, water, clothes.
I helped Shakuntala, who is a migrant labour and delivered her baby on the road after which she travelled 180 Km because of her caste no one was helping her.
I distributed tea and snacks to the police man on duty during lockdown when all the shops were closed and nothing was available.
As a teacher I was the first to start online classes in a government school, I taught my students about the technology, help them study during the Lockdown also. Till today I am continuing my online classes. I helped other teachers also in starting online Classes.
I conducted many online competion to keep my students busy and away from tension and depression like Biodiversity Quiz Competition, Eco-friendly Ganesh making Competition,Sparrow House making to conserve birds in our area.
From Last two years I am conducting Buy a Diya Campaign in which my students stand in the market with the banners in their hands having slogans which attract people and they buy Diya, In this way I am able to make my students more caring, loving, Kind and close to the society. This way I sensitize them towards the Society.
Recently I started Save a Seed- Save a Tree Campaign, in which students have to collect the seeds of Custurd Apple from their local area. I made posters, registration form,Videos for it and with the help of social media I reached the extreme areas of Satna and near by districts also. On 27 November we organized a fuction in which more than 10500 seeds were deposited by different students of different villages and city. Taking care of the Covid-19 guidelines we made it a contact less seed collection procedure. Now the forest department will help us growing saplings from it and we will plant it throughout the Satna City during rainy season. This will help us conserve the indigenous varieties of seed as well as sensitize my students towards conserving environment.
Hence, I always try to bring a change in the Society with the education and I believe that be the change you want to see in the Society.
