I have been working for women's empowerment since I was 18. Today even after 30 yrs I am working on the same mission. I started it by educating women, around 1500 women cleared their class 5th state board exam. At the same time, I was organizing these women into SELF HELP GROUPS, and through this, they started participating in the financial decision-making of their families. Today some of these women are breadwinners of their families. During this time I was also admitting dropout students into the mainstream education system through the JAN SHALA PROJECT. I helped around 2500girls and more than 200 boys through this project, some of them are working as professionals such as teachers, nurses, engineers, etc. Apart from education, I have fought against many social taboos on leprosy, tuberculosis, and menstrual hygiene. I had been helping women to fight against domestic violence and making them aware of their rights. I have been working on saving the girl child campaign even before the govt. started it. This is a short description of my work.
